The Glovers sit six points above the drop zone and boast a superior goal difference to the bottom six with two games remaining.
Coming up against a Stevenage side looking to maintain their play-off position, Way feels there’s plenty to focus the minds of his side.
Speaking to YTFC’s official YouTube channel, he said: “There are so many things you can look at for the players to be motivated.
“One is our futures. We’re trying to protect nearly a 15-year history of Football League status.
“That’s very, very important to the players and they’re going to be the ones carrying that badge and hopefully carrying it with pride, determination and desire exactly like we did against Crewe.”
With mathematical safety within reach this weekend, Way doesn’t feel the pressure will change his side’s performance.
“It’s important we get a reaction on Saturday, not just for us as a group but also the supporters as well because you always want to finish your last home game strong.
“It’s important we handle the pressure. If there’s pressure, it was exactly the same against Crewe and I thought we handled that extremely well and the supporters got behind us and it was a good performance.”
Town are looking to take points off of the Hertfordshire outfit for the second time this season, after Ben Whitfield last-minute equaliser earned a 2-2 draw back in November.
However, the Town boss is anticipating a different challenge with Darren Sarll’s side likely to line-up differently at Huish Park.
“They’ve changed their shape. They play exactly the way we were playing with a 4-3-3 and they’ve been quite effective with it.
“We have to focus on what we do and we’ve got to make sure we’re organised. Again, I’m looking for that same home performance as last time.”
