The 6’3″ midfielder has signed on non-contract terms until the end of the 2017/18 campaign having spent three weeks training with Town.
Gobern, still only 26, is hoping to use the EFL experience he has gathered from spells with the likes of Southampton, Huddersfield and QPR to guide the youthful Glovers side to a strong second half to the season.
Speaking to iFollow Glovers after signing, he said: “We’ve got a young group here and I’m only 26 and one of the older ones. I just want to use my experience to help those lads start picking up some points and climb the league.
“It’s a new experience for me (being one of the older players) and it’s one that I’m relishing.
“There are a few other lads here that are experienced as well and I’m sure they’re thinking the same that we can all push together as one and make a success of this.”
Available for selection this Saturday as Yeovil head to Port Vale in the second round of the Emirates FA Cup, Gobern could make his debut at Vale Park.
Already knowing Town’s history in the cup, the former England youth international is targeting a successful rest of 2017/18.
“The gaffer has mentioned the cup run’s importance to me,” he said. “I’ve played in some good cup games and they last in your memory for a long time.
“This season will be no different, we want to go as far as we can and give it everything we’ve got.
“Now I have signed I can get my head down and help the team.
“The staff have been warming since the first day I walked in and told me about the foundations of the club and where they want the club to go and I want to be part of that.
“The only thing in my mind is to make sure that the first part of the season I knuckle down to make sure the second part is memorable.”
