The commanding 21-year-old has started the last six games in the heart of the Glovers defence, taking him over 30 appearances for the campaign.
Having arrived from Premier League outfit Southampton in the summer, Mugabi is pleased with his development in what is his first season in the EFL.
“It’s my first professional season,” he told YTFC’s official YouTube channel. “I’m grateful for the opportunity to have played the amount of games I have already.
“I’ve enjoyed it a lot, when I first came in I was playing more at right-back which was a good experience for me, adding to my game.
“Now I’m back at centre-back I’m more comfortable but as long as I get selected I will try my best to perform for the team’s sake.”
Mugabi has formed a solid partnership alongside the ever-present Alex Lacey in the middle of Yeovil’s defence, a combination likely to continue this weekend at Exeter City.
“Alex is a good player,” he said. “He has a bit more experience than me being at Yeovil last season and Luton before.
“I feel comfortable playing alongside him, he’s a good player and hopefully in the future we can carry it on.”
The weekend’s clash with the Grecians could be Mugabi’s first start against a local rival in the Sky Bet League Two, an experience he’s looking forward to.
“I’ve never played in it (Yeovil v Exeter), so I’m looking forward to it. The atmosphere is going to be like a local derby, so we have to focus on our gameplan and hopefully pick up a result.
“The main goal is to get as many points as possible and have a good, strong end to the season.
“We’ve got some tough games to come, but we’ll prepare right for them and hopefully get as many points as possible.”
