Second-half heartbreak for Yeovil Town as they were beaten 2-1 at Huish Park by relegation-threatened Wealdstone in a match that consisted solely of headed goals by Enzio Boldewijn, Finn Cousin-Dawson, and Joshua Grant.

The Glovers were denied an early opener within the first five minutes when a high ball through the middle caused trouble for the Wealdstone goalkeeper, who was under pressure. Kyrell Wilson, picking up the loose ball, set himself up for a shot on goal, but Wealdstone managed to clear it away from danger.

The deadlock was broken in the 15th minute as the visitors took the lead through a pinpoint header by Enzio Boldewijn, who connected with a well-delivered cross from the left-hand side.

Wealdstone then produced an exceptional goal-line clearance to deny Yeovil an equaliser. Ciaran McGukin broke through their defensive line following a great through ball, and although he slotted the ball past the goalkeeper, its pace slowed, allowing Joshua Grant to get back and clear it off the line.

Yeovil began to pile on the pressure late in the first half. Kyrell Wilson squared the ball from the right-hand side towards Ciaran McGukin, but it was just out of his reach and went straight out for a Wealdstone throw-in.

The Glovers’ well-deserved equaliser came on the stroke of half-time. A free-kick from the right, delivered by Brett McGavin, found the head of Finn Cousin-Dawson in the box, who nodded it home to level the scoreline.

However, the visitors regained the lead shortly after the break with the third headed goal of the game. Anthony Georgiou whipped in a cross from the left-hand side, which Joshua Grant met in the 18-yard box to make it 2-1.

Wealdstone came close to extending their lead when another cross from Anthony Georgiou was sent into the penalty area, but Alex Reid was just inches short of connecting with the ball.

Yeovil had a late chance in the 88th minute when James Plant attempted an ambitious volley from 25 yards, but the effort sailed high and wide.

Despite five minutes of added time, the Glovers were unable to find an equaliser, and the match ended 2-1 in Wealdstone’s favour. Frustrated though they may be, Yeovil will now turn their focus to Tuesday evening’s home game against Tamworth.
