Yeovil Town were unfortunate not to clench onto the three points after they were held to a 1-1 draw at Huish Park on Saturday afternoon following goals from Aaron Jarvis and Aiden O’Brien in both halves of the game.

The first opportunity in the game came from the Glovers as Charlie Cooper narrowly missed the target in just under the ten-minute mark. Frank Nouble cut in from the left-hand side of the box and broke the Woking line with a great through ball down the right-hand side of the penalty area, which found the feet of Charlie Cooper who was unfortunate to miss the target from the tight angle.

Just minutes later, Ollie Wright was forced to make a save from a deflected shot which was taken by the Woking captain just outside the 18-yard box, the ball was struck and took a slight deflection on the way which bobbled off the ground but great timing from Ollie Wright made sure that the ball didn’t hit the back of the net.

Although there was early hope of a breakthrough for Yeovil Town, there were no other clear-cut chances from either team within the 45-minute mark of the match, this was until just moments later in the 46th minute, Aaron Jarvis was able to capitalise on the first true chance on goal.

The goal followed from a brilliant deep cross from the right-hand side that was swung in by Charlie Cooper which perfectly fell to Aaron Jarvis at the back post who was able to head the ball home and put the Glovers into a 1-0 lead just before the break.

Unlike the first half, the second half had a slower start with the two teams playing a lot of the ball in the middle of the park, some progressing down the channels but not enough to break through either defensive line.

Woking started to come to life after the 65th minute as they were pressing forward and awarding themselves with corners from either side, one of the corners which was cleared by Dom Bernard fell to a Woking forward who laid off a shot which looked to be hitting the target , luckily Jake Wannell was there to put his body in front of the ball and clear it away for a corner.

Sean McGurk was denied by the post in the 72nd minute as he broke through the Woking defensive line down the left-hand side of the attacking third of the pitch.

The visitors got the equaliser which they had been pushing for in the 73rd minute of the match after Woking substitute Aiden O’Brien took a shot from close range which was set up by Lewis Walker cutting in from the right-hand side of the pitch.

Micheal Smith came to the rescue in the 81st minute of the match as he cleared the ball off the line which was scrambled in towards the goalmouth by the Woking attacker and was headed towards the back of the net, but Smith kept composure and was able to see the ball away and deny the visitors a late lead.

Yeovil were pushing forward for a late winner into the additional minutes of the match but were unable to break Woking’s defence and claim their first three points of the year.
