Yeovil Town went toe-to-toe with promotion hopefuls Forest Green Rovers in an intense Easter weekend clash that ended honours even at Huish Park. A first half goal from the in-form Sonny Blu Lo-Everton gave the Glovers the advantage, but a stoppage-time equaliser from Forest Green’s Ryan Inniss saw the points shared.

Mark Cooper made two changes from the side that beat Oldham Athletic the previous Saturday, with Morgan Williams and Harvey Greenslade returning to the starting eleven. It was Greenslade who got the Glovers going early on, surging down the right and forcing a clearance over the bar from Inniss. Moments later, the Forest Green defender was called into action again, this time clearing behind from a Josh Sims cross on the left.

The pressure continued from the resulting corner, with a short routine setting up Lo-Everton to deliver towards the back post, where Williams nodded just wide. The Glovers were firmly on the front foot, with another Lo-Everton set-piece causing chaos in the box before Ciaran McGuckin was denied a shot by a last-ditch tackle from Ben Tozer.

Yeovil’s persistence finally paid off in the 24th minute. Harry Kite chased down a through ball on the right and fired in a low cross that found Lo-Everton, who controlled expertly before curling a composed finish into the far corner to make it three goals in two games for the midfielder.

The Glovers nearly doubled their lead soon after. Greenslade first drove a shot just wide after being teed up by Kite, then moments later found himself with the ball at his feet following a defensive mix-up. His effort beat Ted Cann but was cleared off the line by Inniss.

Lo-Everton continued to be a thorn in Forest Green’s side, delivering another dangerous free-kick into the six-yard box. Shots rained in from Williams, Alex Terry, Finn Cousin-Dawson and finally Kite, but the visitors held firm amidst the scramble. During the melee, Inniss appeared to clatter into Cousin-Dawson, but appeals for a foul went unanswered.

Forest Green offered their first threat just before the break. A long ball from Kyle McAllister was nodded into the path of Harry Cardwell, whose shot fizzed wide of Aidan Stone’s goal.

The second half saw more frustration for Yeovil. Josh Sims’ low cross found McGuckin, who appeared to be tripped by Tozer in the area, but once again, appeals were waved away.

In the 66th minute, Lo-Everton had a chance to double his tally from a free-kick just outside the box, but his curling effort flew narrowly over. Cooper responded with a triple substitution, introducing Lavinier, Cooper, and Khan, while Forest Green made a quadruple change in an effort to shift the tide.

As the game entered the final ten minutes, chances began to dry up, with Forest Green gaining more territory. Substitute Brandon Fleming fired wide from a promising position at the back post.

Kyrell Wilson, brought on late, almost made an instant impact. Lavinier’s clever play set him up on the right side of the box, but his low drive was blocked.

Then, deep into injury time, the Glovers were once again undone by a familiar face. A set piece wasn’t cleared, and Ryan Inniss pounced to slam home a dramatic equaliser, the second time this season he’s rescued points for Forest Green against Yeovil in added time.

Lo-Everton had one last chance to create a winner with a free-kick, but his delivery just eluded Cousin-Dawson at the far post. The referee’s whistle followed soon after, bringing a breathless contest to a close.

Yeovil will feel aggrieved not to have claimed all three points after a dominant first half showing and two strong penalty shouts, but they’ll look to bounce back quickly with a trip to Eastleigh on Easter Monday.
