Yeovil Town were overpowered by relegation-threatened Boston United as they fell to a clinical 3-0 defeat at Huish Park in their final Tuesday evening clash of the 2024/25 Vanarama National League season.

There were no clear-cut chances before the 20-minute mark, but soon after, two consecutive opportunities for Boston almost saw them open the scoring. The first came when Cameron Green delivered a cross from the left, landing at the feet of Dylan Hill directly in front of goal. Hill’s cross-body shot was struck firmly towards Aidan Stone, but the Yeovil keeper reacted well to deny him.

Moments later, on the opposite side of the Yeovil penalty area, Jacob Hazel made a run down the right and cut the ball back to Green just inside the 18-yard box. Green unleashed a powerful right-footed shot, which looked destined for the top-right corner, but a fantastic save from Stone kept the deadlock intact for the Glovers.

The visitors continued to push for an opener, and in the 38th minute, they got their breakthrough. Jimmy Knowles broke past the Yeovil defence and found himself one-on-one with Stone. The forward calmly slotted the ball into the bottom-left corner, putting the relegation-battling side ahead.

Yeovil’s troubles doubled just three minutes later as Hazel capitalised on another opportunity. Knowles, fresh from scoring, delivered a precise ball through to Hazel, who finished clinically with a first-time strike.

Brett McGavin fired off an early shot in the second half after half-time substitute Jahmari Clarke made a strong run through the middle and cut the ball back for McGavin to try his luck, but Boston keeper Cameron Gregory denied the effort.

Boston further extended their lead in the 63rd minute after a poorly defended throw in allowed Zak Mills to get on the scoresheet, firing home from close range.

The Glovers had a chance to pull a goal back just two minutes later when the ball was squared into the middle of the penalty area by Lo-Everton, finding Clarke unmarked. However, he was unable to hit the target with his effort.

As the second half progressed, Yeovil enjoyed more possession but struggled to break down a resolute Boston defence, who remained solid throughout the game.

The final whistle confirmed a frustrating night for the Glovers, who will look to regroup ahead of their next home fixture against promotion-chasing York on Saturday, 15th March at Huish Park.
