The Young Glovers followed up their FA Youth Cup win with a comprehensive victory at Street to advance to the second round in the Roger Stone Memorial Cup. A Brace from Corey Koerner and further goals from George Geraghty and Joe Crisp helped seal the win.

Played under the lights and in wet conditions, the home side nearly took a surprise lead when a loose punch from Yeovil keeper Louis Parker fell to the Street striker who dragged his shot wide with the goal gaping.

The visitors raised the tempo and created several chances including a shot which was cleared off the line before skipper Koerner latched onto a flick from Geraghty and smashed home the opener in the 25th minute.

Street threatened to grab an equaliser when a sliced clearance fell to the advancing striker who saw his shot well blocked before a near post header was saved from the resulting corner.

However, the Young Glovers doubled their lead in the 40th minute when a free kick from the right fell at the feet of Geraghty who slotted the ball into the far corner.

Geraghty then saw a close range shot superbly saved from the home keeper as the half came to a close.

The visitors started the second half in blistering fashion and Sol Padmore was tripped in the box gifting an early penalty. Padmore saw his spot kick saved, but minutes later Joe Crisp made it 3-0 with an audacious effort direct from a corner.

Team Manager Matt Percival sent on several substitutes with the game seemingly won and Adam Samuels set up Oscar Foot who couldn’t apply the finish from close range.

To their credit Street kept pushing for a goal and saw a 25-yard effort sail narrowly over with Parker stranded out of his box and then had an angled drive skid off the crossbar as the game entered the closing minutes.

Yeovil Town saved the best until last when Koerner made it 4-0 with a stunning volley from the edge of the box sealing a place in the second round.

Next week the Young Glovers will be looking to continue their cup endeavours as they take on Bridgwater United in the FA Youth Cup Third Round Qualifying.
