Yeovil Town suffered a heavy 5-0 defeat against league leaders Barnet, bringing an end to their three-match unbeaten run. The Glovers, already struggling with injuries, found themselves overwhelmed by a dominant Barnet side.
The game’s first shot didn’t arrive until the 13th minute when Ryan Glover fired over the bar from the edge of the area. However, just moments later, Glover reacted quickest to the rebound from Ben Coker’s header, slotting the ball home to give Barnet an early lead.
Barnet continued to apply pressure, and a slick passing move created space for Anthony Hartigan to take a shot from range. Aidan Stone spilled the initial effort but recovered before Callum Stead could capitalise on the rebound.
At the other end, Yeovil looked for a way back into the game. After some neat build-up play, Harvey Greenslade had a chance from the left, but his effort was dragged wide. Yeovil were then forced into an early change as Michael Smith made way for Josh Sims.
Barnet soon took full control. In the 36th minute, Ben Coker found Callum Stead in the box, who had time and space to drill a low effort past Stone, doubling the lead. Just minutes later, Barnet made it three. Aidan Stone initially produced a fine save to deny Danny Collinge, but from the resulting corner, Anthony Hartigan unleashed a stunning curling strike into the far corner.
At half time, Yeovil made another change, with Sean McGurk replacing Kyrell Wilson. Despite an early long range effort from Hartigan, the Glovers began to create some chances of their own.
Josh Sims put Owen Evans under pressure, forcing the goalkeeper to punch the ball straight to Sean McGurk, whose attempted lob was headed clear by Tavares. Yeovil’s best opportunity came following further substitutions, as Sonny Blu Lo-Everton and Harvey Greenslade made way for Lewys Twamley and new signing Ryan McLean. McLean quickly made an impact, driving into the penalty area and forcing Evans into a fingertip save. Moments later, he led a counter attack and found Frank Nouble, whose low cross was cleared for a corner.
However, Barnet regained control in the closing stages as Yeovil’s defence collapsed. With 10 minutes remaining, Dom Telford was tripped in the area following a slick passing move. Substitute Harry Chapman calmly rolled in the resulting penalty to make it 4-0.
Mere minutes later, Barnet were awarded another spot kick after Jordan Cropper was brought down by Alex Whittle. This time, Telford stepped up and sent Aidan Stone the wrong way, completing the rout.
Despite four minutes of stoppage time, the only notable effort came from Frank Nouble, but it was too little, too late. The defeat marked Yeovil’s first away loss since January and was a humbling result for the injury hit Glovers.
