The Glovers made it back-to-back wins in spectacular fashion, coming from 2-0 down at half-time to secure a 4-3 victory over AFC Fylde. Second-half goals from Sam Pearson, Aaron Jarvis, Sonny Blu Lo-Everton, and Dom Bernard completed a remarkable turnaround for the Glovers, who claimed all three points on the Lancashire coast.
Mark Cooper was forced into two changes from the side that won at Boston United the previous week, with Alex Whittle and Dom Bernard replacing the injured Raphael Araoye and suspended Jake Wannell. These enforced defensive changes seemed to unsettle Yeovil early on, and they quickly found themselves on the back foot.
In just the third minute, Alex Whittle was dispossessed by Nick Haughton, who wasted no time in firing past Ollie Wright to give Fylde an early lead. The hosts almost doubled their advantage just minutes later, as Frank Nouble was called upon to head an effort off the crossbar while defending a corner.
Yeovil created a few chances of their own but were unable to capitalise. Josh Sims sent a curling effort wide, followed by a back-post header that also missed the target. Aaron Jarvis had a chance from a cut-back by Nouble, but his shot was blocked.
Fylde’s talisman Haughton continued to threaten, unleashing a long-range effort on 29 minutes that deflected and looped over Wright’s goal, narrowly missing the crossbar. Six minutes later, Haughton found the net again, capitalising on a defensive error by Yeovil to curl a low shot beyond Wright, making it 2-0.
Haughton nearly completed his hat-trick immediately after the restart, but his shot from range flew just wide of the post. By half-time, Yeovil were in desperate need of a response, and Cooper made two changes at the break, bringing on Sam Pearson and Jordan Young for Finn Cousin-Dawson and Sims.
The changes had an immediate impact. Young was involved early, firing over after a clearance from Charlie Cooper’s cross, while Aaron Jarvis and Matt Worthington came close with headed efforts from corners as Yeovil began to apply pressure.
Their persistence paid off in the 66th minute when Pearson brought down a cross from Jarvis and slotted it past Fylde goalkeeper Ben Winterbottom. Just minutes later, Pearson turned provider, sending in a low cross for Jarvis to poke home and level the scores.
With the game now finely balanced, Cooper introduced Sonny Blu Lo-Everton in place of Brett McGavin. Lo-Everton made an almost instant impact, picking up the ball from 25 yards out and rifling a low shot into the bottom corner to put Yeovil ahead for the first time in the match, sending the travelling support into raptures.
However, Fylde were not finished. In the 84th minute, a deep cross was flicked back across the Yeovil goal, allowing Tyler Roberts to head home through a crowded box and level the match once more.
Undeterred, Yeovil pushed forward again. A corner from Charlie Cooper found Nouble, whose header kept the ball alive in the box. Pearson attempted a bicycle kick, which fell to Bernard, who smashed the ball into the net to spark wild celebrations on his debut.
In the final minutes, Fylde threw everything at Yeovil, with Wright pulling off a series of vital saves to preserve the lead. Even Winterbottom ventured into the Yeovil box for a late corner, but the hosts couldn’t find a way through, and the Glovers returned south with a thrilling 4-3 victory.
