On a blustery afternoon in Barnsley Yeovil Town returned to Somerset with a point.
The Glovers took the lead thanks to Joel Grant’s tenth minute strike before the hosts drew level in the 34th minute when Marcus Tudgay slammed home from the penalty spot.
The hosts started brightly with Chris Dunn called into action after seven minutes when Paddy McCourt tricked his way into the area to fire low at goal. Shot stopper Dunn was on hand though to get a strong palm to the effort.
Just minutes later the Glovers took the lead. A ball from the defence by Byron Webster somehow evaded Peter Ramage and Jack Butland and managed to find the feet of Grant. The former Wycombe man kept his cool to tuck the ball home.
Town could have doubled their lead just after the 20-minute mark. With Ishmael Miller off the field receiving treatment the Glovers surged forward with Grant holding the ball up well before setting up Joe Edwards. The former Bristol City man shot past Butland but was cruelly denied by the upright.
Seconds after being waved back onto the pitch Miller was denied by the feet of Butland. Miller controlled a smart cross from Luke Ayling but the referee adjudged the loanee had handled the ball before he got his shot away.
With 12 minutes of the first half remaining the home side drew level when referee Lee Probert awarded the home side a penalty after he adjudged Webster had fouled Cywka. Tudgay made no mistake with the spot kick to equalise for the hosts.
Five minutes before the break Barnsley thought they had taken the lead. Neat passing on the left wing saw Jacob Mellis find himself with room to spare. He curled the ball towards the far corner over Dunn, but luckily for Town Shane Duffy was on hand to head the ball wide for a corner.
Both managers made a substitute just before the hour mark with Jason Scotland replacing Marcus Pederson and Kevin Dawson replacing Ed Upson for Town.
Scotland nearly made an immediate impact when he turned in the area to strike a left footed effort at goal but his shot flicked the bar on the way over.
At the other end Miller and the travelling faithful thought the Glovers had re-taken the lead. Grant, again caused all sorts of problems on the wing before crossing to Miller. The big striker bundled the ball home but referee Probert deemed he had handled the ball in the process.
With less than five minutes remaining the game sprung to life with Dunn pulling off a superb one handed, full stretch save to deny substitute M’voto. From the resulting corner Town broke away but Grant couldn’t find Hayter who was free in the box. Seconds later a deep cross found Hayter but the substitute headed over from close range.
In the dying seconds Dunn was again called into action with another fine low save.
