After a hectic week off the pitch, Yeovil Town return to on-field matters with a trip to Barnet on Saturday afternoon. (3pm)
Following Darren Sarll’s departure, Charlie Lee will lead the Glovers for the first time as interim manager of the club.
The Glovers face a resurged Barnet side who have won three of their last four fixtures, including a victory over this season’s FA Cup giantkillers Boreham Wood.
Charlie Lee’s thoughts
Speaking to the press for the first time as Yeovil’s interim manager, Lee said; “It’s been a strange and emotional week, especially with everything that happened on Thursday (the anniversary of Lee Collins’ passing).
“I’ve been really enjoying the task though. I’ve been thrown in at the deep end but I’m embracing everything that comes along.
“After we knew Darren was leaving on Saturday, we got into it straight away with the staff, and got everything sorted for the week.”
Team news
In his pre-match press conference, Charlie Lee said that Grant Smith is closing in on a return whilst Max Hunt is not quite ready for a return to competitive action.
Adi Yussuf has returned from international duty with Tanzania and trained with his teammates for the first time since landing back in England on Friday.
A foot in the opposition camp
After a poor start to the season under Harry Kewell, there was a restructure at the Hive that saw former Wealdstone boss, Dean Brennan, who was initially the club’s ‘Head of Football’ take the helm.
Brennan got off to a positive start when he took the job late in 2021, with memorable victories over the likes of Stockport, but was a difficult start to the new year as their form tailed.
Things have began to pick up of late, with three wins in their last four, there’s now a confident feel around the North Londoners once again.
Have we met before?
Since returning to the National League, Yeovil and Barnet have played out some memorable occasions, the stand-out of those being the 19/20 play-off eliminator at Huish Park, in which Barnet snatched a victory over the Glovers.
Last season, Town completed the double over Barnet, winning 3-1 at Huish Park alongside a 1-4 victory on the road at the Hive.
This season, the game at Huish Park went Yeovil’s way, with Adi Yussuf’s first half header separating the two sides.
