To date, Town’s boss has brought four players to the club, with two commanding a transfer fee.
Attacking duo Rhys Browne and Jake Gray arrived at Huish Park for undisclosed amounts, while Connor Smith, a back-to-back promotion winner, and experienced defender Stephane Zubar have joined on frees.
As well as the new recruits, Way has been able to tie down members of last season’s crop on two-year deals.
Otis Khan, Jonny Maddison, Bevis Mugabi, Francois Zoko and Tom James are now under contract until the summer of 2019, while long-serving Glover Nathan Smith has signed for another campaign.
“Everything’s good. I’m very, very pleased with the signings that we’ve made so far,” Way said in his extended interview with BBC Somerset.
“I only had three players in contract but I didn’t want to panic with the decisions we and the players had to make.
“You end up getting to where you want to be and unfortunately you may lose one or two when there are players out of contract but from the football club’s point of view, the board of directors and the chairman have allowed a number of players to sign two-year contracts now which is very, very pleasing.
He continued: “It’s a very big step forward for the football club. The board have supported me in bringing in four players so far and have helped with the finances so everything at the moment is very, very positive.
“As much as I can explain to the board of directors that these are good players who have had success, you have to pay the market value and I have to say a big thank you to them to help secure these players’ services considering there was a lot of interest from other clubs.”
