The 21-year old will link up with Boro team-mate Alex Pattison for his first spell away from the North Yorkshire side since joining in 2017.

Born in Peć, he moved to Luxembourg at a young age and signed his first professional contract with local side CS Fola Esch in 2014.

Primarily operating as a centre-back or right-back but comfortable anywhere across the back four, he was part of the squad that won the league title in the 2014/15 campaign.

Impressing for Fola Esch, the 6’3″ defender was called up to the Luxembourg national side in November 2016 despite also being eligible for Montenegro, Kosovo and Serbia.

He made his first international appearance in a 3-1 World Cup Qualifier loss to the Netherlands, having to deal with the likes of Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben.

Playing the majority of the 2016/17 season, including an appearance in UEFA Europa League qualifying, he earned a move to Middlesbrough in May 2017.

Missing the first half of the campaign through injuries, he made 13 appearances for the under-23s when returning from his injury lay-off.

Putting in a string of fine performances, he was handed his first-team debut by Tony Pulis in the first round of the Carabao Cup against Notts County, scoring in the 3-3 draw to become the first Luxembourger to score in English professional football.
