Yeovil Town defender Luke Wilkinson was delighted to be the match-winner in The Glovers‘ 2-1 victory over Torquay United at Huish Park.
Wilkinson’s 91st minute header was enough to see Yeovil claim an outstanding three points over the National League leaders and the central defender admitted he was thrilled with this victory in particular.
Speaking to www.ytfc.net, post-match, he said: “I had a good feeling about the corner to be honest. It was a great whipped ball in from Dicko [Carl Dickinson] and I managed to get my head on it, and I was just buzzing to see it go in.
“Of course, it’s nice to get a goal as center half but more importantly it was about getting the three points today.
“It was a massive win for us especially for what happened on Boxing Day. We know we haven’t started the season the way wanted too but as a team we are really trying to turn things around.
“I think you can see from our performance on Monday against Aldershot, and the way we responded today shows that the boys never stop and work so hard for the club and the fans.
“We didn’t get going at all last week against them and the ones that played certainly know that. However, we’ve showed a great reaction in the last two games and that was the Yeovil Town that we were all used to seeing last season. That character, fight, and determination.
He finished: “It’s going to be another tough game for us on Tuesday. A derby today and then another one in midweek against Weymouth. We’ve got to make sure that we recover well and ensure that we’re all raring to go once again.”
