2005/06
In November of 2005 Yeovil were once again drawn away in the FA Cup first round with a trip to Macclesfield testing the Glovers’ faithful knowledge of the northern motorway system once again. Much like the year before the clash ended in a draw forcing a replay.
Phil Jevons, the man who fired Yeovil to the League Two title a number of months before, was the saviour with a late, late equaliser to force a second tie.
Back at Huish Park ten days after Yeovil were far, far too strong for the travelling side.
Macclesfield were only ten minutes from progressing during the original tie but were blown away 4-0 in Somerset.
Darren Way seems to love the FA Cup and duly found the net once more, Paul Terry added a second, Lee Johnson got in on the act as did Arron Davies.
The final three goals coming in a blistering second half to secure Yeovil a second round tie away at Walsall.
2010/2011
Yeovil went on a baron run of failing to get past Round One for a staggering four years before the draw sent them to former Conference rivals Rushden and Diamonds.
Yeovil were ravaged by injuries, youngster Rhys Baggridge made the bench while Jean Paul Kalala was shifted to right back.
The game itself was a scrappy affair with very few chances, but Yeovil’s Football League status shone through in controversial circumstances.
Andy Williams netted a late, late winner but his shot passed by Dean Bowditch, clearly standing in an offside position.
However, Captain Paul Huntington spent an age in conversation with the referee and his assistant before the goal was finally given.
The 350 travelling fans went home happy while the home supporters were left to wonder what might have been.
The Second Round was a nightmare for Yeovil in more ways than one. Hartlepool away was a bad enough draw but once it had been called off no more than an hour before kick off the Glovers had a long and ultimately pointless journey.
The replay saw just 42 die hard away fans make the journey and Yeovil threw away a two goal lead really poured salt into the wounds.
2011/12
The last time Yeovil were successful in the FA Cup came back in late 2011 when the draw had the Glovers up against Hereford United.
The famous old rivalry was once again ignited and it was Yeovil who were the happier of the sides.
The win was convincing in so much as the score line with the Bulls hit for three without reply.
It was hardly three tap ins either as Ed Upson, Andy Williams and Dom Blizzard all competed in their own mini ‘goal of the round’ competition.
All three were worthy of the highlight reel and set up a second round tie so mouth-watering BT Sport covered both legs.
The Glovers were paired with big spending non-league outfit Fleetwood and the giant killers were the potential banana skin the TV cameras wanted.
Ed Upson scored another scorcher in the away leg but two late goals pegged back Yeovil and forced a replay.
The second tie, again on BT Sport, was less impressive from a green and white point of view.
Terry Skiverton’s side crashed out 2-0 with Jamie Vardy securing the win before his departed for Leicester City for a seven figure sum.
