Bassett completed 90 minutes for the Magpies while Lea was introduced at half-time on his return from an ankle injury.
Dorchester almost took the lead in the first half as Bassett’s far post drive just cleared the crossbar, before his free kick was well stopped by St Ives keeper Tim Trebes.
The 18-year-old did have a hand in the opener as his left-wing corner forced Liam McDevitt to turn into his own net in the 55th minute.
St Ives searched for an equaliser and got their just rewards five minutes from time as Josh Dawkin drove in from the wing and drilled a low shot past a seemingly wrong-footed Shane Murphy.
