Since re-joining Yeovil Town in the Summer, Lawson D’Ath has been a vital member of the Glovers dominant midfield.

Despite playing a slightly deeper role to his previous stint at club, D’Ath has felt comfortable right away.

Speaking to YTTV, the former Northampton Town man said:

“The manager rang me up in the summer, I didn’t have a club at the time, but I was training with Swindon Town. They didn’t make an offer to me, but the opportunity here came I up and I jumped at the chance.”

“I’m really enjoying it here; I just want to carry on playing. The position I play now is a bit different to when I was younger. I played further forward at the start of the season, but now I have dropped back and feel more comfortable in that role.”

“I now get to do the defensive side of the game, alongside the attacking side. I always want to score goals, but ultimately I just want us to win, and if I play well that’s a bonus.”

D’Ath has fond memories of his first spell with the green and whites and credits the loan as the time he grew into a man.

“I scored my first professional goal at Huish Park; it was against Colchester and we won 2-1.”

“When I first moved here, I was only 19, and it was my first time away on loan. It was difficult at first as I had never moved so far away from home before. I’m from Oxford but was playing for Reading at the time.”

“Moving away at that age, it helped me grow up a lot. I grew into a man, living so far away that you can’t just pop home when you want. Then playing men’s football, it was a massive learning curve for me, especially with the players in that dressing room at the time alongside Gary Johnson.”
