The tricky winger marked his home return from three months out with an ankle injury with a goal and two assists as Town blew away Crewe Alexandra 3-0 at Huish Park.
Rounding off the scoring after teeing up Matty Dolan and Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro, Khan was pleased to get back to winning ways.
Speaking to YTFC’s official YouTube channel, he said: “It was like it was early on in the year when we were sixth or seventh.
“Obviously we’ve had some setbacks which is going to happen in the season but now we’re picking up and getting back to how we used to play and it’s enjoyable to play like that.”
Victory sees the Green and Whites move seven points clear of the drop zone with three games remaining to ease fears of relegation, leaving the 21-year-old to express relief.
“The fans have been frustrated with how performances have gone but we showed them what we’re really about.
“We’ve done it for ourselves but also for the fans as well because it’s a big relief off everyone’s chest and it gives us massive confidence going into the last games of the season.”
Easter Monday’s endeavours saw Khan move on to eight goals for the season as well as notch his fourth and fifth league assists, something that made the lengthy absence worthwhile.
“it’s been a long three months injured and it couldn’t have been a better game for me to come back to.
“I knew Newport wasn’t really my type of game being scrappy and winning headers, but I knew we’d get it down and play (against Crewe) and that’s what my game is, so I’m happy to get the goal and two assists to help the team.”
