New signing Jordi Hiwula is raring to make his debut on Saturday after joining on loan from English champions Manchester City until January.
The 20-year-old, who scored in City’s 4-3 win over Liverpool at Under 21 level last week, joined up with the squad on Thursday and cited Yeovil’s philosophy as a main reason behind his move south.
“I watched Yeovil play a few times last season and I’ve seen what the manager wants to do and I think I can help, so I thought it was a good opportunity for me to come down here.
“I know it’s a physical league and a lot of teams like to play balls over the top but there are a few times they are trying to play football as well, which Yeovil are doing. They try and play football and that’s what attracted me to coming here as well.”
Three months in Somerset will be Hiwula’s first loan spell away from the Etihad, and the youngster is relishing the opportunity and hopes to get off the mark on Saturday when Town face MK Dons at Huish Park.
“It’s my first loan move, so I think it will be a good one as well to get away from home and experience living away, which should be good.
“I think Saturday is a good test for me and the team as well. I’ve seen how everyone has trained and everyone is looking sharp and ready for Saturday. I want Saturday to come as quick as possible and get out on the pitch and try and score a goal.”
After meeting with the squad and management, Hiwula already admits he wouldn’t be adverse to the idea of remaining in Somerset for longer, should the circumstances fit.
“I think three months for the start is good because I can show what I can do and progress from there.
“If everything goes well and the manager still wants me then I would be open to carrying on here.”
