Signing on loan from Crawley at the start of the week, Smith was introduced on the hour-mark and took just 17 minutes to open his account in green and white.
Netting what proved to be the winner, the Glovers secured their fourth win in a row.
Delighted to make an impact, the new signing told YTTV: “I was pleased to be able to contribute and get a goal. The most important thing though was to win again, and that’s what we did.
“I wanted to come on and make an impact. Fylde changed their shape in the second half which helped them.
“The lads dug deep and put their bodies on the line. It was a team performance for that win.”
Known for his goal-scoring habits from midfield, Smith gave the Huish Park faithful a glimpse of his abilities as he smashed home the winning goal following some great work from Albi Skendi.
Reliving that moment, he said: “I want to get forward and contribute to the game. Getting a goal on my first outing, I’m very pleased but even if I didn’t score the main thing is that we got three points.
“Albi (Skendi) was on the front foot, being aggressive. He won the ball back and I was screaming at him on his left, I’m thankful that he passed it to me.
“I was able to have a good touch in my stride, I think Gold (Omotayo) was calling for it in the box but I hit it clean across goal and it went in.
“We said we wanted to start sharp and put them under pressure, and we got the early goals. We could have had maybe a few more.
“We needed the third goal really, so we need to learn to be ruthless. We got the win though, so we need to move on now.”
