Darren Sarll has said he felt Yeovil Town’s first half performance against Dagenham & Redbridge was one of the best during his tenure at the club.
Despite waiting almost 45 minutes for the opening goal, Sarll’s side controlled proceedings throughout, holding firm when the Daggers attacked, and creating a number of chances at the other end.
Speaking following the conclusion of the game, the boss said, “I thought first half in particular, we were really good. That first half performance is right up there with the best in my time here, that’s how good I thought we were.
“I thought (Charlie) Wakefield was really threatening, (Tom) Knowles and Adi (Yussuf) cause chaos, absolute chaos.
“We look controlled and settled at the moment, which is nice. We come in with their sending off, and it becomes really horrible and uncomfortable to watch when you don’t finish games off.”
The hosts were reduced to ten men just before the break as Elliott Johnson received his marching orders for a heavy challenge on Dan Moss, and despite a man advantage, the Glovers we unable to extend their lead in the second half, with the hosts cranking up the pressure in the closing stages.
“You can really see what type of side we are, because when we play against ten men, we struggle to retain the ball, we need those periods to be a little bit longer. When you’re in the lead, what that will do is take the sting out the game. It means you can breathe, get control, get territory, those things are really important.
“I must say though, I thought Jordan Barnett & (Dan) Moss at full-back were our best players by a mile. Their defending 1v1, against some good players, whilst being isolated, it was magnificent.”
It’s straight back to business for the Glovers, with another trip within the M25 on the horizon against in-form Bromley at Hayes Lane.
