Well, well, well YTFC fans – have you all calmed down after Saturday’s match?

I think I am going to have to admit that I was wrong during the match and if I had a hat – I would eat it. After 30 minutes, on Saturday, I was extremely negative and thought the performance was disappointing from the lads. I felt that the two goals were avoidable, as good as Mackail-Smith’s finish was, and it just seemed like the same old story at Huish Park.

However, the boys proved me wrong in that second half and it was one of the best performances I have seen in a very long time. We completely turned the game on its head and played Luton off the pitch.

Harry Cornick utilised the wing incredibly and Ryan Bird was a super sub with two great striker’s finishes. We really took flight and deserved the three points. Sorry – I just had to use a “bird” pun just once!

Let’s hope we are now off the mark and can get an equally good result at Oxford. It was so good to see the team spirit and the “never say die” attitude – something that I think we can all agree was missing last season.

As for the rest of the football world, AFC Bournemouth secured their first win in the Premier League. The Cherries scored four goals at West Ham United and came out on top in a 3-4 thriller. There is no doubt that this is an incredible feat but I do fear for them defensively.

Often promoted sides spend big money on strikers and forget about the defence. A good goalkeeper and impressive back four can win you plenty of points in the season and I think Watford have been solid so far this season.

Two clean sheets in the top flight is something to be proud of and I think they may just push on throughout the rest of the campaign. Let’s hope they can get that elusive first win soon!

Hero of the Week – Petr Cech

Arsenal have endured a tough start to the season but on Monday night they had their new goalkeeper to thank after a poor performance at home to Liverpool. The Gunners looked sloppy in possession and despite a better second half, Giroud should have done better up top and Mesut Ozil continued to disappoint in midfield.

However, Cech kept Liverpool at bay with two world class saves as he pushed Coutinho’s shot on to the post and saved well from Benteke. Liverpool’s number nine looked a threat throughout the 90 minutes. It was one of the best 0-0 matches I have seen and with all the chances the score line was quite unbelievable.

Villain of the week – John Terry

John Terry was “Mr Consistent” last season for the champions but he almost cost his team after being sent off at West Brom on Sunday. He was clearly the last man as the home side burst forward and Chelsea’s frailties at the back reared their ugly head once again. However, they are champions for a reason and held on for a crucial 3-2 win. James Morrison scored two great goals to get the Baggies back in the game but will rue his missed penalty that switched the momentum early on.

Tony Pulis is a great manager and I am sure their fortunes will turn soon. As for Chelsea, they will have to improve to keep up with Man City, who already look like serious title contenders.

So, next up Yeovil Town travel to Oxford City. I live about an hour away from the ground so am glad to finally have a short trip. I was also very glad to have the bragging rights against all my Luton Town fan friends so thank you boys for that.

I hope to see you all on Saturday and I have a feeling that brilliant result will kick start our season.

Achieve By Unity and let’s get that away end rocking just as Huish Park was on Saturday!

COME ON YOU GREENS!
