Darren Way’s side overcame Chesterfield at the Proact Stadium thanks to a last-gasp winner from skipper James Bailey.
The last time the Glovers picked up back-to-back three points away from Huish Park was in 2016 with victories at Crewe Alexandra (1-0) and Reading Under-21s (Checkatrade Trophy – 2-0).
Otis Khan and Olufela Olomola both scored against Chesterfield to take their tally for the season to five – the same as Francois Zoko.
The trio will continue to battle it out for Town’s golden boost against Newport County this weekend.
Rodney Parade has a new surface which the Exiles are thriving on.
They have won three out of their five home games (D1 L1) and sit 10th in Sky Bet League Two as a result.
Manager Michael Flynn has urged his fans to be ‘realistic’ about the club’s position and not get carried away.
Newport’s strike force have been in good form with Frank Nouble – August’s player of the month – netting five times while Padraig Armond (3 goals) and Shawn McCoulsky (3) are also a threat.
Former Glovers Matty Dolan and Ben Tozer are in the Welsh outfit’s squad.
Head-to-head
Town have faced Newport four times in the EFL, coming out on top twice (D1 L1).
Both those victories were 1-0 scorelines, the last coming in 2016/17 courtesy of a late own goal.
Last term at Rodney Parade, the Glovers suffered a 1-0 defeat to the Welsh side with Mickey Demetriou netting from a direct free kick.
Officials
Nicholas Kinseley will be the man in the middle this weekend.
The Essex-born official is in his 10th season of refereeing and officiated Town’s 1-1 draw against Luton Town in August 2016.
This term, Kinseley has refereed eight matches – mostly in League One – and has issued 35 yellows and three reds.
He will be assisted by Robert Dabbs (Dorset) and Christopher Kidd (Oxfordshire) with John Farries (Oxfordshire) acting as fourth official.
