The Glovers boss singled out several of his squad for praise ahead of Town’s important Sky Bet League Two match against Chesterfield at Huish Park.
It is the final time the Green and Whites will be in action before the Emirates FA Cup fourth round tie with Manchester United and Way has warned his squad to remain focused and to put in another hardworking display.
“As far as the group is concerned, they’ve been growing in confidence and their game management has been better,” he told iFollow Glovers.
“We’ve got to make sure we keep building on that.
“When I look at individual performances, Jake Gray is getting stronger and stronger physically and psychologically; some of his technical ability is there to be seen.
“Players like Tom James and Bevis Mugabi, who was fantastic against Bradford, are improving.
“Jordan Green has signed a new contract which for me is fantastic news, up there with the best bit of news I’ve had in the window just because of what he brings to the team.
“(Francois) Zoko keeps scoring goals which is what he does best, (Sam) Surridge has had one or two which we’re trying to work on just to make sure he stays calm and patient in front of goal because it will come and when it does I want him to celebrate like mad.
“We’ve lost three games in 12 so the boys are in good form. We have to make sure we keep it going.”
Way continued: “On a matchday it’s all about blocking, tackling and breaking forward in numbers with quality in the final third.
“If I see any individual pull out of tackles or they’re not committed within their challenge to get three points then I’ll probably drag them off early and nine times out of 10 they wouldn’t be involved against Manchester United.
“The players are focused, they’re a good honest group and I don’t think they would do that anyone.”
