Sitting top of the form table for the last six games and now up to fourth in the National League, Town’s boss told YTTV:
“When I woke up this morning all I wanted to do was win the game, whether it’s pretty, nice, entertaining or not, I don’t care I just want to win.
“I absolutely love winning games, sometimes if your individual or the team’s performance isn’t great you lose the joy of winning the game, but you should never lose the joy of winning.
“After the final whistle, you saw 20 players out of the 22 slumped. Both teams deserve a lot of credit, they put a lot of energy and emotion into that today. We aren’t here for anything else but to win games.”
Victory against Fylde leaves the Glovers on their best run of form since March 2016 after picking up four wins on the bounce.
With a strong squad to pick from, Sarll is delighted with his side’s development.
“I thought last week (against Halifax Town) we were brilliant. I was delighted with the way we played.
“What I liked was that Thursday and Friday was the best we’ve trained so far; fitness levels are going to have to improve to reach the demands that our training needs now.
“I didn’t even use Lawson (D’Ath), Craig Alcock, Tom Whelan, Olly McCoy, they’ve all done brilliantly yet some of them didn’t even make the bench. So, there’s a great feeling amongst the squad right now.
“In patches of the first-half, I thought we were brilliant. Some of it was scintillating with some great aggression. It just would have been nice to get that third goal before half-time and see the game out.”
