Alex O’Loughlin has been appointed Press Officer on the retirement of Adrian Hopper. Alex has worked in television, producing sports features for global broadcast including BT Sport and ESPN and most recently was a freelance broadcast journalist with BBC Somerset and BBC Radio Bristol. 

Alex, 23, has covered many of Yeovil’s matches for the last decade for a number of publications and organisations including the Club’s official website.

Upon his appointment, Alex said: “Yeovil is my hometown and I am hugely excited about being a part of the team at Huish Park.”

Alex has been actively working in the role since the start of the season and will now take charge of the Club’s Media Department going forward. 

Speaking after Alex’s appointment, manager Darren Way added: “Alex is young, enthusiastic and willing to learn and develop. 

“I am sure he will be a great asset to the Media Department.”

The change comes as Adrian Hopper, 69, a former newspaper journalist, retires after 14 years with the Club. 

Upon retiring, he said: “It has been the job I always dreamt of, and I loved almost every minute of it, apart from relegation!”

Having worked closely with Adrian throughout his time at the Club, Chairman John Fry said: “This is the appropriate time for us to make significant changes as we look to the future in this very important area of our organisation. 

“Adrian has done us proud in every aspect of his media work. We welcome Alex, and we wish Adrian well in retirement and, of course, good health and happiness.”

Yeovil Town today also announced that James Healey left the Club on September 30th to pursue other activities. James has played a key role in the Club’s Media Department and was fundamental in developing its digital output. The staff, players and directors wish James all the best for the future.
