Manager Gary Johnson was pleased with his side’s penultimate pre-season fixture which saw the Glovers come away from Truro 2-1 victors.
Two strikes in the first half an hour from Simon Gillett and Kieffer Moore were enough for Yeovil to come away from their short break in Devon and Cornwall with two wins from two.
After bemoaning the limited chance creation against Plymouth, Johnson was happy with Town’s performance against their Cornish opposition.
“I thought it was decent, it was a good game as far as the opposition were in it and I thought we created a lot of decent opportunities; Kieffer hit the bar two or three times and we missed a penalty.
“I thought we created a lot more opportunities today and people were looking to find people which is what we were after, because I didn’t feel we had that against Plymouth as much. It doesn’t matter who you’re playing against you’ve still got to find someone who has made a bit of space in the penalty area and I felt we did that much better today so we’re a little bit further down the line.
“People are going to say ‘oh you only beat Truro 2-1’ but I was quite pleased and we got James Berrett involved as well, he hasn’t been involved for the last three weeks since he came almost so he showed what he’s got and I’m pleased Simon Gillett is back with us at the moment and we will see what happens with him in the early part of the week.”
Yeovil will lineup for their final pre-season fixture tonight (Monday) against Dorchester and the Glovers boss admits there are still starting positions up for grabs ahead of the league campaign kicking off on Saturday.
“We haven’t picked our team yet for Saturday, Dorchester gives the lads who didn’t play 90 minutes a chance against the same level and there will be probably two or three of the starters playing 45 minutes each and we’ll use it as part of their week’s training. Then it will be down to the organisation and set-plays and everything ready for Doncaster on the Saturday which I can’t wait for.”
