A quick free-flowing beginning saw Sam Surridge win and convert a penalty after two minutes and Jonny Maddison was excellent in the Glovers goal to preserve the hosts’ lead.
Following a long spell of pressure from the Bees, Francois Zoko rewarded Town for their hard work in defence with an injury time finish to seal three points for a third home league match in a row.
He told iFollow Glovers: “For my young team to go up against a Barnet team who were very aggressive at times was extremely pleasing; I feel proud.
“We started very brightly on the front foot and made it very difficult for a Barnet team who have been on a good run.
“It was a great start from the kick-off. It worked extremely well and opened them up; Oscar gets to the edge of the box, doesn’t shoot, we recycle it, put it in the final third and get a penalty.
“We rode our luck a little bit for about 10 or 15 minutes where the ball bounced back off the post but when you’re down at the bottom you’ve got nothing to lose and it was almost like a game of basketball.
“The players were very resilient and to get the result we got, they deserve all the plaudits they get.
“We’re all in this together; we fight together and we win together.”
