The Glovers were forced to make the two substitutions in the opening six minutes of the second half, as Smith was replaced at the break after picking up a knock in the opening 45 minutes before Krysiak went down with just 51 minutes on the clock.
For Town’s Polish stopper it represented the first football he’s missed this season having been an ever-present, but Way isn’t expecting a lengthy spell on the sideline for either player.
Speaking to iFollow Glovers he said: “Nathan Smith was an impact injury and with Artur you could see they were overloading the box and were quite forceful and quite physical from set-plays which we knew about.
“His injury is an impact injury, too. It’s unfortunate but Tom James stepped in at centre-half and Dicko (Ryan Dickson) went in at left-back and obviously, Jonny Maddison finished the game strongly.”
Maddison entered the fray for his first taste of football this season, putting in a notable performance to ensure the Green and Whites came away from Gresty Road with a share of the spoils.
Pleased with the 23-year-old’s performance, Town’s boss praised the young keeper’s persistence.
“I watched him train yesterday and he was pulling saves off left, right and centre. I’ve had to manage him and he’s been frustrated at times but I understand his frustrations.
“I had to leave two players out of squad today so it goes to show that if you keep going and keep dreaming and keep believing you get to where you want to get to and now it’s Jonny’s time to make sure he can handle that pressure.”
