The Glovers had both Tom James and Jordan Green dismissed at Gigg Lane before the nine-men conceded an 89th-minute sucker punch courtesy of Gold Omotayo.
The duo will now miss one and three matches respectively including Saturday’s first home game of the season against Mansfield Town.
Despite being pleased with the way the nine men on the pitch battled to try and claim an unlikely point, Dickinson won’t be letting standards slip after a successful pre-season build-up.
“We’ve got a good set of lads and I’ll make sure I enjoy every game and hopefully the lads do as well,” he told iFollow Glovers. “But trust me, I’ll be in their ears nonstop and if any standards slip we’ll be on it.
“I want us to work as hard as we can day in, day out and week in, week out. If we can do that and walk off the pitch saying we gave everything, that’s enough for me.
“To go down to nine men wasn’t ideal and it was a bit of sloppiness and ill-discipline, but the way we held out for as long as we did speaks volumes for the spirit we’ve got in the dressing room this season.”
Playing with a two-man disadvantage for 25 minutes Town’s full-back – who ended with the captaincy – is looking to take the positives into the weekend’s clash with the Stags.
He added: “We’ve got to dust ourselves down and take that spirit and fight into next week and use it as fuel. We’ll look at what we can do better and what we did well and go again.
