The 21-year-old played a pivotal role in Yeovil’s 0-0 draw at play-off chasing Exeter City on Tuesday night, putting in a manful performance in the heart of defence and is now looking to carry that on this weekend.
With the Glovers travelling to Essex to take on Colchester United, the Republic of Ireland Under-21 international is keen to build on his first appearance in Green & White.
Speaking to iFollow Glovers, he said: “It’s always nice to get your debut out of the way, it’s nice to show a bit of what I’m about.
“It was a team effort, the boys worked really hard for each other, and then when that clicks, that’s when you usually keep clean sheets.
The gaffer and Terry (Skiverton) had spoken to me a lot, but I’ve just been waiting for an opportunity. I just want to carry that on, whether I get picked or not I just want to carry on.”
Making the trip to the Colchester Community Stadium to take on the U’s who sit four places and 12 points ahead of Yeovil, Donnellan is looking to build on the midweek performance in Devon.
“I think every game in this league is a tough encounter, obviously we got a good result the other night but we need to carry that on, there’s no point in having one good performance and not playing well in the next.
“If we get a few more wins, the nine-point gap (from the bottom two) gets even bigger, that’s what we’re aiming to do.”
