Reunited with former manager Darren Sarll and returning to his Somerset roots, the central defender has made a strong start to his Yeovil career.
Missing most of pre-season and the early weeks of the campaign with a calf injury, Wilkinson has featured in the last four outings and has been an integral part of recording three straight wins.
Speaking to YTTV, the 28-year-old said: “I’ve fallen in love with football again really. It’s great being here, Somerset is where I call home.
“After a little blip against Dagenham in my first game back, since then it seems to have all gone to plan. It’s not all down to me though, the team have been great every single game and I think the fans have appreciated that.
“Back-to-back clean sheets are more pleasing than anything. If we keep a clean sheet, we’re going to come away with at least a point or even three, and we think we’re more than likely to get all three.
“A lot of new players have come in this summer, so it was always going to take time to click but I think the work ethic is the biggest change and that is why we’re getting our results.”
Yeovil return to Huish Park this Saturday (3pm) to face last season’s play-off finalists and FA Trophy winners AFC Fylde.
The visitors’ early season form has been below expectations, but the Glovers defender still expects a tough task in what will be the first-ever meeting between the two sides.
“I don’t think we can look too much into their form, they had a really good season last year,” Wilkinson said. “They’ve got some good players in their team but if we concentrate on ourselves, we can certainly pick up three points, especially at home.
“Morale has been very good this week, after three wins in a row its always going to be up. Now we want to keep that run going and who knows where we will end up this season.
“You want teams to not like coming here. We want teams to thank that they’re in for a tough game. We want to win every game at Huish Park.”
