Yeovil Town FC is delighted to confirm that former player and long-standing Commercial Manager Dave Linney is returning to the club as an Associate Director and Ambassador.

The role means Mr Linney will also become an Associate Director of Yeovil Town Football & Athletic Club Ltd and will assist the club’s directors in shaping a new vision for the club.

Mr Linney underlined how delighted he was to be continuing his association with the club when he said “I am very honoured to be given the opportunity to become an Associate Director/Ambassador of Yeovil Town Football Club and look forward to working with Scott Priestnall and his fellow board members. 

This is an exciting opportunity for me, given the wealth of knowledge and experience that I have gained throughout my long association with this historical club spanning back to 1983. 

With my past experience I hope to contribute my skills in order to gain further success for the future and ultimately regain our status back in the English Football League.”

Dave stood down as Commercial Manager at the end of December after a 36-year association with the club that started when Dave first moved to Yeovil from Oxford United. During those 36 years Dave represented the club originally as a player but then moved on to be Commercial Manager and match day announcer.

Since he left in December, Dave’s close links with the club have continued with him and his wife Sue being regular guests of the club at home games. Mr Linney’s appointment as a Club Ambassador and Associate Director are therefore a natural extension of the ongoing association between the Linneys and Yeovil Town FC.

Commenting Club Chairman Scott Priestnall said “I made no secret of my disappointment of losing someone with Dave’s experience and knowledge of the football club so early on in my tenure. 

“I believe a football club like ours needs people like Dave.  Someone who is almost part of the foundations, loved by all and really has the best interests of the club at heart.  I’ve really enjoyed having Dave and Sue around the board room over the past month or so and genuinely believe it is a better place with them and somewhere they belong.”
