Darren Sarll offered an update on the fitness of his squad as numbers are down to the bare bones for Yeovil Town’s trip to Altrincham.
Following Luke Wilkinson’s red card and continued injury issues, Town will be without several key men on Saturday afternoon.
Speaking to BBC Somerset, Sarll said “The squad is looking bare, we’ve taken a step backwards because of Luke’s (Wilkinson) suspension. I don’t think there will be anyone back fit.
“I was hoping to have Alex John back fit and getting him some games because he’s a brilliant kid and deserves some games, but unfortunately I don’t think he’ll make it along with (Matt) Worthington,” said Sarll. “Charlie (Lee) is walking like he’s got glass in his shoe at the minute, he’s fragile and (Rhys) Murphy is nowhere near so we’re very short again.”
Looking ahead to the fixture at the weekend, the Yeovil manager demanded continued high performance levels after a positive showing against Maidenhead United.
“I want very similar performance levels to Tuesday,” insisted Sarll. “Since we started playing again after Lee’s passing, we’ve given it everything, absolutely everything which is a testament to them.
“It can be difficult looking at other teams now because you don’t understand their motivation levels.
“I can only speak for my own and my lads have been very motivated and kept a good attitude throughout and sometimes that’s not been good enough to play well and win, and other times it has been.
“If we can replicate our performance on Tuesday night from Saturday, that’s all I can ask for. They’re still getting paid so why should they perform any less than that.”
