Yeovil Town manager Darren Sarll hopes to keep his side’s momentum building as the Glovers head to Hartlepool United on Saturday afternoon.
After to back-back victories against Altrincham and Boreham Wood in the National League, Sarll believes that his side are back to their best and hopes to extend the good fortune when they make the long trip to Victoria Park on the weekend.
Speaking during his pre-match press conference, he said: “I think we are back hitting good form again. When you look back at the last two games prior to the wins, I thought they were very close games and we done well in them, so we’ve hit a good bit of form recently. The two wins have been really good for us, and we’ve played some great football at times.
“What I’ve liked about our performances especially in midweek was that everyone wanted to get on the ball and play. There was a lot of believe amongst the players which was great to see.
“Over the past few games, we’ve looked good up until the 60th minute mark. After that you can see we have those periods where we can’t quite maintain those standards, but I’ve been really pleased with our performances over the last couple of weeks and hopefully we can build on that.
“It’s a new team and a very young one too so you can expect us to drop our standards from time to time but based on our performance on Tuesday night I believe we are getting closer and closer to reaching that level of consistency.”
He continued: “I think we’ve moved up seven or eight places over the last couple of weeks – a couple of wins – a couple of draws – and a few loses which shows that we are a progressing side. The good thing is that we are climbing up the table gradually and are full of confidence at the moment.”
Three first-half goals from the trio strike force of Rhys Murphy, Reuben Reid and Josh Neufville all but assured that Town left Meadow Park with all three points on Tuesday evening, and the boss has been particularly impressed with his sides attacking display over the past few games.
“I think our strike force has been fantastic in the last couple of games. The great thing about our attacking players is that they are all very different, are in different stages of their career and offer a variety of different aspects to the team.
“One player who doesn’t receive the credit he deserves often enough is Chris Dagnall. No one has a bigger influence on our play than him. He is a brilliant professional footballer and is a serious character amongst the dressing room.
“Reuben on the other hand has been brilliant since he came in and has really shown his leadership skills. He needed that goal on Tuesday and hopefully he can thrive off that and both score and contribute to more in the coming games. He gives players such a wonderful platform to work off and has been one of the best players that I have worked with in terms of his build up play, his ability to hold off players and his overall quality in front of goal.
“Hopefully they can all continue their good form and help drive the team up the table in the coming weeks.”
