Former player and coach Marcus Stewart, known to many within the Yeovil Town Football Club community, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in September of last year.
As part of the raising awareness campaign for MND in Football, Marcus and his wife Louise have been working very hard to raise much needed funds for research into finding a cure for this terrible fatal disease.
Close friends and family have come together to raise funds, with a charity cycle ride taking centre stage. The ride will see a small group of no more than 35 cyclists embark on a challenging journey, covering 1,000 kilometres and climbing over 9,000 metres in elevation.
The route will take them through seven of Marcus’s former football clubs, symbolising the chapters of his illustrious career. These clubs include Bristol Rovers, Huddersfield Town, Ipswich Town, Sunderland, Bristol City, Yeovil Town, and Exeter City.
The riders intend to present Marcus a specially cycle jersey which has been signed by all of his seven clubs during the Northampton match at Bristol Rovers on Saturday 28 Oct.
Join us at Huish Park at 3 pm this afternoon as the Team Stewart Cycle Challenge arrives from Exeter City before continuing towards Bristol, or alternatively can sponsor the challenge by heading to their JustGiving page.
