Yeovil Town are delighted to support Stewart’s Sports Tour for the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation. Organised by our Head of Player Development Marcus Stewart, this event promises a day of fun while raising funds for a great cause.
The event covers a 17-mile distance, divided into six stages. It will take place this weekend, starting at the Memorial Stadium, home of Bristol Rovers. The route winds through various sporting arenas in the Bristol area, providing a scenic and invigorating challenge. A dedicated team of marshalls will be on hand to support walkers, ensuring everyone is checked in at the end of each stage.
Motor Neurone Disease isn’t as rare as many people believe, with a one in three hundred lifetime risk for anyone to contract this devastating condition, for which there is currently no known cure. The Darby Rimmer MND Foundation, established by former Liverpool and Bradford City footballer Stephen Darby and former RAF serviceman Chris Rimmer, aims to raise awareness of Motor Neurone Disease, support sufferers and their families, and fund research projects to find a cure.
Following his diagnosis in 2022, Marcus Stewart immediately began supporting several MND charities, including the Foundation. Fundraising by ‘Team Stewart’ quickly reached spectacular levels, raising well over £100,000. Much of their work has supported the Darby Rimmer MND Foundation, and in March 2023, Marcus’s wife Louise became the latest trustee for the Foundation.
We wish Marcus and all participants the best of luck ahead of this weekend.
