Club captain Josh Staunton alongside sport scientist Scott Wickens spent Wednesday afternoon at Oxygen Wellbeing in Sherborne.
The team at Oxygen Wellbeing kindly invited the pair down to test out their new facilities, which can assist with the players’ recovery.
Commenting on the visit, Wickens said; “I want to thank Steve and Juliet at Oxygen Wellbeing for accommodating us as we look to progress our recovery procedures as a squad. We are very lucky to be able to use their Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber, and having the facility close to the training ground means our players can utilise the therapy to aid their recovery between training and games.
“Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy allows the players to:
- Reducing swelling and inflammation
- Increase oxygen uptake
- Aid muscle injury repair
- Increase cognitive function
“This enables them to better prepare to perform for the next training session or fixture, and maximise their performance in those sessions or games.
“Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy can be used by anyone for a variety of health issues, as well as being available for general well-being for anyone and everyone. I would highly recommend anyone in the area to go and visit the clinic and, if it’s right for you, try out the therapy.
“We will be using the clinic across the season for both players and staff, and look forward to continuing to build relationships with Oxygen Wellbeing.”
