Town goalkeeper Chris Weale visited his former school Westfield Academy yesterday to open their new 3G pitch.
The new surface, which replaces a unused redgra pitch will enable the school to offer pupils and the local community a top of the range facility which can be used all year round. All the fencing around the pitch has been renewed and with the addition of full floodlighting this is a ‘state of the art’ sports facility for all to enjoy.
Chris Hunt, Principal, said: “This is the latest of many exciting developments taking place at Westfield. Although the pitch will be used primarily by our students, we also want the wider community to be able to benefit too. As a result, we are planning to make this fantastic facility available to local community groups and teams during evenings and weekends.”
