Yeovil Town Chairman John Fry has welcomed the news that a group of Yeovil Town Supporters are setting up a working party with a view to forming a new Supporters Trust for the club.
 

Commenting on the proposals Mr Fry said: “We must remember that this club has had some of its most successful years being run by the present board, who have an excellent relationship with our two official supporter groups, The G&W Supporters Club and the Yeovil Town (DSA) Disabled Supporters Association.

                                  

"These Supporter Groups have through good and bad times shown tremendous commitment to Yeovil Town. I am proud to say our Supporters Clubs are well established and run by their committee members and can be relied upon to support the Club at both home and away games.

“Every season the G&W Supporters Club provide free of charge their help with numerous jobs around the stadium, which, over the years has saved the Club many thousands of pounds. These are the true supporters who deserve recognition and respect for the work they are already undertaking. I am therefore sure the G&W Supporter Club members will be at the heart of any Supporter Trust activity.      

                                                                                                                                 

“I have a very open and professional Board of Directors who are all long serving supporters of the Club. My Directors provide their expertise and time for free. As directors, we act as custodians of the Club, to ensure the business is run efficiently and effectively for our supporters. Other than obvious issues of confidentiality, my directors are encouraged to be transparent in their dealings with supporters and the press.

"It is therefore in the interest of my Directors and the Club, to have effective two way communications with our Supporter Clubs. I will ensure that this is the case.

 

“It is indeed encouraging that supporters are sufficiently active and enthusiastic about their club to get the ball rolling. I would be delighted to meet with the representatives from any of our Supporter Clubs at any time in the future.  

                   

“We all realise the results of late have been disappointing, but two Cup wins in the last seven days have lifted the mood around Huish Park and I am sure Paul Sturrock will turn things around, hopefully with three points against Stevenage at Huish Park today.
