Yeovil Town are delighted to confirm the signing of Max Hunt on a permanent deal from Carlisle United on undisclosed terms.
After a successful short spell on loan, the towering central defender now signs until the end of the 2021/22 season.
During his loan stay, Hunt played four times for the club, winning on three occasions, and keeping two clean sheets alongside Luke Wilkinson at centre back.
Looking back on his career so far, the six-foot-six centre half graduated from the Derby County academy but failed to make a first team appearance for the Rams.
However, Hunt would gain experience in men’s football, with loan spells at Belper Town and eventually Aldershot Town in the National League last season, where he made 22 appearances, scoring once against Yeovil at the EBB Stadium.
Following his first taste of National League football, the Chesterfield born defender moved northbound to Carlisle in the summer but after making six appearances in League Two this season, the defender ventured to Somerset on loan, and now signs permanently for the green and whites.
Town manager Darren Sarll has been vocal about his desire to improve the defence and speaking to BBC Somerset on the addition he said: “The defence has been a real problematic area for us. Max, since his debut where he had a really tough time away at Torquay, has been outstanding.
“Carlisle were wonderful to deal with, Dave Holdsworth and Chris Beech were fantastic with us.
“I see a real future for Max, I don’t think we’ve seen the true extent of the young man’s potential. It was a really easy deal for us to get over the line.
“Max was desperate and keen to play for Yeovil, he loves it here. I think it’s a really good signing, as it’s another one who’s not just with us this year, he’s here next year too which gives us time to develop him, so it’s a really fantastic deal for us.”
