With the Championship players either relaxing on a week off or representing their country the focus turns to SkyBet League One and Two for Ben’s Bets.
With just two picks, one from each league, I hope to have still found some value for a double.
Firstly, in League One, it would be easy to back Bristol City or Swindon who are both unbeaten in forever, scoring goals for fun and not conceding.
However, City are no value and Swindon don’t even play this Saturday so I’ve found some value elsewhere.
We are going to take on a side who slump in the relegation zone and are the only side in the League without a home win this season.
Colchester United host Fleetwood and the seasiders are a huge price to get an away win.
Fleetwood haven’t had a great time of it on the road recently, only winning two of their last five on their travels, but they did win last time out and perform well against sides in the bottom half of the table, beating Port Vale 1-0 on their last league outing.
Take into account too, that Fleetwood didn’t have a midweek game in the JPT and Colchester were taken all the way to penalties (and lost) to Gillingham this past Tuesday night.
In terms of scouting preparation and rested legs the play-off challengers Fleetwood have the edge.
That make the 2/1 on offer from SkyBet too big to ignore.
Fleetwood to beat Colchester @ 2/1
In League Two, we are backing a South-West based side who sit 5th in the form table.
Imagine being Hartlepool United; rock bottom of the football league, no win in five games, just five goals scored all season, 17 conceded, no manager and dumped out of the JPT in midweek to Sheffield United.
If you could hand pick your next game it would probably not be an away day at Exeter.
A 688 round mile trip, probably ten hours on a coach to face a side who have lost just once in their last six – winning four of those along the way. Oh, and the last time they played at St James’ Park, they beat top of the table Bury.
So, when I saw this fixture I was expecting odds far too short to even consider backing, to my surprise, SkyBet are offering EVEN money. That’s far too big and something we have to put in.
Exeter to beat Hartlepool at Evens.
Combining those two will still pay 5/1, so a fiver will get you a nice £30. Of course, if you’d rather bet less, feel free, a couple quid still gets you enough for a takeaway and a pint.
YTFC SPECIAL
I think we all agree the last couple games haven’t quite gone to plan for Yeovil of late, but one bright spark was the introduction of Jordy Hiwula.
His bright and energetic performance has thrust his straight in among the favourite to score first.
He’s 6/1 to score first, 10/1 for a brace and 50/1 for a treble, but the value lies in the ‘Wincast’ bet.
Hiwula to score at any time in a Yeovil win is 100/30, a little over 3/1.
Yeovil have already won two impressive games on the road and Port Vale are there for the taking so this bet is for the positive supporters out there who think that the tide is about to turn and the Man City loanee will spark the revival of fortunes.
