A group of Yeovil supporters, led by Michael West are leading an appeal to raise funds to clean the grave of club legend Johnny Hayward.

The forward, who played for Yeovil over for over 20 years, scored 548 goals for the Glovers, and is recognised to have the second best record for one club, behind Bayern Munich’s Gerd Muller.

Hayward sadly passed away in 1958, aged 71. In recent years, Yeovil supporters have clubbed together to look after the grave after it was discovered by his grandson, John Perry.

Yeovil supporters are now looking to raise £150 to have his headstone restored and cleaned.
