After a ride of approximately 380 miles this year’s Charity Bike Ride returned to Huish Park this Sunday morning.
Unlike other years more individual charities benefited this year including St.Margaret’s Hospice in Yeovil and the Baby Care Unit at Yeovil General Hospital.
The ride had started at Durham last Wednesday with Day One ending at Skipton after a grueling ride across the Yorkshire Moors.
Day two took the cyclists from Skipton to Crewe and on Day Three it was down as far as Hereford.
With the finishing line getting ever closer Saturday saw the group reach Weston-Super-Mare with the final stint back to Huish Park on Sunday morning, arriving back at around 11.00 am.
The ride was by far the most energy sapping event with some 23,000 feet of hills covered.
The organisers would like to thank all the riders who entered together with all the support crew and especially our sponsors including Jones Building Group, Westbury Packaging, We Do Vans and Old Mill Accountants. Organisers are hoping to have topped last years total and the figures will be released as soon as they have been accurately counted.
Yeovil Manager Darren Way was at Huish Park to welcome the cyclists back and he is seen with Dave Jones and Mark Porter from Jones Building group. Commenting on the ride Darren Way said:"I’d like to thank everybody concerned with such a worthy venture and a big "Well Done" to all the riders who completed the ride.
