FINALLY! I have something really positive to write about. Not only did we finally gain that elusive first home win since September on Saturday against Bradford, we also brought back an impressive point from promotion chasing Preston on Tuesday evening.
I for one am so glad to see Gozie Ugwu back as I thought he did extremely well in his first spell at Huish Park and was unlucky to get injured and face fierce competition during the 2012/2013 season.
Two goals in two games from Gozie and four points against top six opposition are two fantastic positives we can take in our battle to stay up.
We also seem to have a new centre back in the form of Kieffer Moore. Unfortunately I didn’t make it to either match but I have heard he was extremely impressive.
I have always been a big Kieffer fan and his attitude and willingness are just the qualities we need to beat the drop. The spirit in the side seems to be improving drastically…we do love a second half of the season surge don’t we?
Moving on, Arsenal pulled off the result of the week in my opinion. A convincing 2-0 win at Manchester City severely dented City’s title hopes whilst the Gunners now sit just a point behind Manchester United in fourth place. League leaders Chelsea smashed Swansea City 5-0, but were held to a 1-1 draw at Liverpool in the Carling Cup Semi-Final first leg.
If Liverpool could win a trophy this year it would signify an extremely successful season after what has been a tough campaign for them. Also, how brilliant would it be for Steven Gerrard to end his Liverpool career lifting a trophy at Wembley? He is a true legend of the game and it is nice to see such loyalty in football. I am almost positive that he will never play against Liverpool no matter what happens in his future career.
As for the Championship, Brentford pulled off another amazing win away at Brighton, whilst Fulham enjoyed a last gasp winner against Reading. That is a big result for the London club, who now lie securely in 15th where they will hope to stay from now on.
Leeds United gained their first win in eight games against seemingly unstoppable Bournemouth. The league leaders finally drew blank after so many games where they seemed to be scoring for fun. Lucky for some eh?
However, they still lie a point clear and no doubt will bounce back in the League soon. They first must overcome Aston Villa in the FA Cup on Sunday. It may be worth putting a cheeky bet on…we do all love an upset and there is no denying that the Cherries are on fire this season. Ask our betting man about that one though.
Goal of the Week
This week’s goal of the week has to go to Raheem Sterling. His superb solo effort resulted in Liverpool getting the result they deserved in the Carling Cup. The run, the finish and the celebration is what football is all about. Enjoy this one.

Next up, Yeovil Town host Coventry City at Huish Park in another huge match. Every game is so important for us but also for me. Every week my Manager, Assistant manager and I all compete over whose team can get the best result. Whoever loses has to buy treats for the week. Now as you can imagine, I am not in credit. Even last week I lost thanks to Fulham and Arsenal’s good results. So a nice 3-0 win and I should be safe. Thanks lads.
