Amongst the 63 clubs, the ‘Gold Award’ given to nine clubs highlights an elite number of clubs that offer an exceptional family matchday experience.
EFL clubs received two ‘mystery family’ visits throughout the 2018/19 season, with their feedback and reports determining whether each respective club would achieve ‘Family Excellence’ status.
From the two ‘mystery visits’ to Huish Park, the summary report concluded:
‘After a couple of missed awards a few seasons ago, Yeovil have worked hard to restore the level of family engagement that always defined them as one of the country’s most friendly clubs.
‘Among the highlights this season were most of all the outstanding individuals encountered over the phone and on the matchday; the mascot package offered; the Garden of Remembrance (a wonderful way to show a child just how much their local club means people) and the fact the kids have the chance to write a letter to their favourite player and post it while at the game!’
From the benchmarking report, the Glovers sit 6th in Sky Bet League Two and 22nd in the entirety of the EFL – some 72 clubs.
