11th March 2015

Hi everyone.

Hope you are all well and all enjoyed last night at Huish Park, despite the result. Unfortunately, it was always going to be tough against top of the league. I think we need to just draw a line under it and go again.

It was never going to be the game that kept us up or sent us down. We have two massive games coming up away at Leyton Orient and Colchester on Saturday and Tuesday, respectively. These are defining matches and ones we need maximum points from.

Going in to these, we must remember what a fantastic battling performance we put on against Oldham Athletic on Saturday. I will admit, I was pretty defeated at 1-0 down. I couldn’t see how it had happened after being so dominant in the first half.

However, we did not give up and a last minute winner is one of the best feelings as a football fan. I must admit, I went MAD! Jumping up and down, finding anyone I could to hug. It was probably quite embarrassing, but it was worth it.

We may have had a setback Tuesday night but thanks to that win – the dream of “Mission Survival” is still on.

In other football news, there was a lot of last minute drama on Saturday, most notably at Derby County. If Oldham felt aggrieved at losing in the 92nd minute, Derby must have been inconsolable after leading 2-0 in the 93rd minute and only finishing the match with a draw. Birmingham City secured an unlikely comeback scoring in the 93rd and 96th minute.

It was Derby’s chance to take advantage of their arch rivals Nottingham Forest’s defeat of Middlesbrough and they could not take advantage. There are always teams that bottle it at the end of the season, will this year be Derby County?!

It is quite unbelievable how close the top of the Championship is. The top seven are only separated by five points and the top four all sit on 66 points. It really is going to be a fascinating climax to the season with each and every team believing that they will be able to take their place in the Premier League.

Norwich have been on quite an unbelievable run and they could be the team to surprise everyone and seal the title. As for the bottom half, it looks to be set in stone with Blackpool already preparing for life in League One and both Millwall and Wigan eight points away from the safety line.

Ian Holloway lost his job at The Den this week and to be honest I am surprised that this has only just happened. In a time where clubs sack their managers frequently and as soon as results do not go to plan, Holloway has had plenty of time to try and turn it around.

Unfortunately, I think the change may be too little too late. Fulham, Brighton and Rotherham are extremely lucky this season that there are 3 worse teams and will look for much improvement next season.

Goal of the Week

With Yeovil Town Ladies doing us proud and putting women’s football on the map, I thought this week’s goal should be from the ever improving women’s game. Watch Eni Aluko score a fantastic goal for England in the Cyprus Cup. WOMAN POWER!

As for us, it is a huge week for our football club, so we all need to join together and thrive to “Achieve by Unity.” Safe journey to all Town fans who are making their way to Orient.

It is a close game for me but unfortunately I have to put on a show. I will be awaiting updates on Twitter though and will see you all at Colchester next Tuesday.

Let’s hope that when I write next week, we are six points better off.

Have a great week.
