Monday 25th August | Enterprise National League | Huish Park

The Glovers led 3–0 at half-time following goals from Josh Sims, Junior Morias, and Harvey Greenslade, but the visitors mounted a second-half comeback and sealed victory with the final kick of the game through substitute Kain Adom.

Mark Cooper made four changes to the side that lost narrowly at Braintree two days earlier. Alex Whittle replaced Kyle Ferguson in defence, while Luke McCormick came into midfield for Finn Cousin-Dawson. In attack, Morias and Greenslade were preferred to Aaron Jarvis and Tahvon Campbell.

Yeovil began brightly and were rewarded after 16 minutes. Pressing high, the Glovers forced a mistake from visiting goalkeeper George Shelvey. Morias collected possession, drove into the penalty area, and squared low for Sims, who finished at the back post for his second goal of the season.

Morias doubled the advantage in the 29th minute. Cutting in from the left, he advanced into the box unchallenged and rifled a strike into the roof of the net to make it 2–0.

The lead became three just before the interval. A well-timed challenge from McCormick launched a counter-attack, with Brett McGavin sending Sims racing clear down the right. Sims’ effort was blocked, but the rebound fell kindly to Greenslade, who converted from close range to give Yeovil a commanding half-time lead.

Half-Time: Yeovil Town 3–0 Gateshead FC

Gateshead responded immediately after the restart. Two half-time substitutions added fresh energy, and in the 49th minute captain Kyle Hurst reduced the deficit with a strike from distance.

The visitors struck again just before the hour mark. After a scramble inside the penalty area, former Glover Frank Nouble was on hand to finish from close range, cutting Yeovil’s advantage to 3–2.

In between those efforts, captain Jake Wannell had gone close with a volley, while Luke McCormick was denied by goalkeeper Tiernan Brooks, who replaced Shelvey at the break.

Cooper looked to his bench, introducing Ben Wodskou, Cousin-Dawson, and Campbell as Yeovil sought to regain control. But in the 74th minute, Adom – one of Gateshead’s half-time substitutes – found space inside the area and fired beyond Ward to bring the visitors level at 3–3.

Yeovil’s best opportunity to retake the lead came with 11 minutes remaining. McCormick’s corner was met firmly by Morgan Williams, but his header was cleared off the line.

With seven minutes of added time signalled, the contest remained finely poised. However, deep into stoppage time, Gateshead struck the decisive blow. Adom was played in on the edge of the area and finished low past Ward with the final kick of the match, completing the turnaround and sending the visitors back to Tyneside with all three points.
