Tahvon Campbell gave the Glovers the lead with a 15th-minute header from a corner, before Carlisle substitute Harvey Macadam equalised after 68 minutes with a strike that flew into the top corner.
As the game reached its conclusion, the visitors looked the most likely to secure all three points, piling on the pressure in search of a winner, but couldn’t get through the Yeovil defence, who fought hard to secure a point.
Richard Dryden made four changes to the side that fell to defeat away at Rochdale seven days ago, with new signing Max Joliffe making his debut alongside Luke McCormick in midfield, whilst Michee Efete made his first start for the club on the right of a back four.
Hoping to get back to winning ways, Dryden opted for an extra forward player, with Harvey Greenslade coming into the side to start on the right wing. Tahvon Campbell was asked to pair with Aaron Jarvis in attack, with Byron Pendleton, Kyle Ferguson, Finn Cousin-Dawson, and Josh Sims making way.
The first chance of the game fell the Glovers’ way through the fourth member of the attack, left winger Andrew Oluwabori, who drifted inside and skipped past a couple of Carlisle defenders to try and line up a shot, which was scooped wide after 3 minutes.
Carlisle then grew into the game, with Chris Conn-Clarke coming close in the 11th and 13th minutes, but the midfielder was unable to hit the target, sending a couple of efforts just wide of the Yeovil goal.
It wasn’t long before the Glovers had the lead, with Campbell making first contact with George Nurse’s corner after 15 minutes, with the ball making its way past Gabriel Breeze in the Carlisle goal.
After taking the lead, Yeovil grew in confidence and created several other opportunities in the first half, but were unable to double their lead at the break.
Aaron Jarvis had a header inside the penalty area claimed by Breeze in the 37th minute, before Oluwabori came close four minutes later.
The winger took the ball from just inside the attacking half and sped through the Carlisle midfield before sending the final chance of the half wide.
Half Time: Yeovil Town 1-0 Carlisle United
Chasing a goal, the visitors started the second half as the better of the two sides, and were rewarded with an equaliser in the 67th minute.
Georgie Kelly had the first of a few chances in the opening 15 minutes of the half, bringing down a deep free-kick inside the penalty area and firing at goal, but Kelly couldn’t get a great connection with the ball, with Jed Ward easily claiming a dangerous opportunity.
Regan Linney also went close twice, bending a strike just wide from the edge of the penalty area after 54 minutes, before seeing an effort deflect the wrong side of the post from close range 5 minutes later.
Yeovil captain Jake Wannell nearly restored the Glovers’ lead in the 65th minute, against the run of play, after the ball dropped to him just outside the area.
Wannell’s strike caught out Breeze, who dived the wrong way, but the Carlisle goalkeeper was able to get his fingertips to the strike, before securing the ball by jumping on top of it.
Two minutes later, the Blues took the lead through Macadam, who blasted the ball past Ward and into the top right corner.
After being pegged back level, Yeovil were met with an onslaught of pressure as the visitors searched for a winner, but held strong, limiting Carlisle to just a few chances, and fighting hard to secure a point.
Linney went close twice more, but couldn’t beat Ward, firing into his chest from close range in the 72nd minute, before curling a powerful effort just over with the outside of his foot two minutes later.
Aaron Jarvis came closest for the Glovers, connecting with Nurse’s 78th-minute corner, but the forward could only head over.
